On Wednesday, 3 May at 7:00 PM, Caledonia Branch 154, Royal Canadian Legion will be holding its Annual General Meeting and elections for the 2023-2024 year. Arrive early so that you can register and remember to bring your membership card.
Branch 154 is a self-help club. Almost everything that is done is done by volunteers. If you believe in the aims and objectives of the Legion and sincerely want to help, then you need to come out and get involved. Don’t be one of those who has lots of ideas about what should be done but expects others to do them!
The branch is run by an Executive Committee consisting of :
· President
· Past President
· 1st Vice President
· 2nd Vice President
· Six Executive Committee Members
Officers and members of the Executive Committee commit to:
· attending meetings General Meetings – third Wednesday of June, September, November, January & March and the first Wednesday of May
· attending Executive Committee meetings – second Saturday of every month at 10:00
· taking an active roll in the business of the Branch and serving as Chair of one or more of the standing committees:
o Bar Chair
o Buildings & Grounds
o Cadet Liaison
o Events & Entertainment (Ways & Means)
o Honours & Awards
o Lottery
o Membership
o Poppy
o Public Relations
o Secretary/Treasurer
o Sergeant at Arms
o Sports
o Veterans Service Officer / Seniors
o Youth Education
To be eligible to hold an office, you must be a paid-up Legion member and have been so for one year prior to the election, and your nominator must also be a paid up member. Candidates for President or Vice-President must additionally have served at least one term on the Executive Committee.
Of course, you don’t have to be a member of the Executive to help. If you’re interested and available, there’s many ways to get involved. Come on out to the meeting and find out.
