The flags at Branch 154 have been at half mast since 28 December in memory of Constable Greg Pierzchala of the Haldimand County OPP who was killed in the line of duty on 27 December.
They now remain at half mast in memory of Branch 154 member Nick DeGelder, who passed away on 30 December. Nick was born in the Netherlands and did his National Service in the Grenadiers and Rifles Guard Regiment, which included service with NATO patrolling the East German border, before moving to Canada in 1968. Nick and his wife Tina have been faithful Legion members. Nick served on the Branch Executive and also donated the World War I German minenwerfer which sits outside our front door.
There will be a Celebration Of Life on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 33 King Avenue, York.
